Up from the Gutter

The Skaven reinforcements keep coming in, as bargains are abundant on ebay.  Making their way via post are 2 Warlock Engineers, a Warpfire thrower, some reinforcements for my plague monks, and 2 more Rat Ogres.  On the horizon are the Island of Blood warlord and possibly some more clanrats, and perhaps even a Doomwheel. I've pretty much tabled the undead at this point because they are way too expensive compared to Skaven to purchase.  Perhaps when more plastic sets get released I'll go back to them.  Right now though I am focusing on painting my remaining Orcs and Wood Elves, and then working on the Skaven as I get them.

I am just about finished painting my first 10 Forest Goblin Spider Riders.  I'm liking their look and will upload some pics probably this Friday when they are completed.  Just need to base them and make a movement tray and they are good to go.  Next up after them are some Black Orcs I have lying around.

Spiders make me happy

I'm finally getting around to painting the Battle of Skull Pass spider riders that have been sitting in my basement for 4 years now.  I'm pretty stoked about having them ready for my next game of warhammer with my Orc and Goblin horde, I'll have more cavalry than I know what to do with, and it will all suck because of the new 8th edition rules.  But that's ok because I am desperate to try them out.  I anticipate having them finished some time next week, and as soon as I do I will get some pictures uploaded.  They are actually much easier to paint then I thought they were going to be.

Another ebay score

Yet another non-VC purchase, but this time I won 4 sets of 20 Skaven Clanrats at $4 each with free shipping.  That's 80 clanrats for only $16, which by anybodies count is a bargain.  With my multiple Skaven Mordheim warbands I could probably put together 1000 points of Skaven at this point. So I might keep the clanrats, or turn them around in a few months when the initial Island of Blood craze is over.  Either way, nice!  I have a couple of bids in on some Rat Ogres as well, and if those go through successfully I'll be in even better shape, as they don't take too long to paint and I might be able to sell the painted models at a markup, and then use the profits to purchase the Grave Guard I have been craving.

ebay update

I won another auction last night, not for a VC model though, but instead a Wood Elf mounted Lord.  Here is the GW pic of the model, he retails for $17, I won him for $3.75, shipping included.  Hopefully I'll be able to turn him around and make a few bucks to put toward some Mantic Ghouls.

There is a VC army auction that I am following, started off at .99 bidding for a huge lot, but the many people who don't know how to properly bid have already run it up past $70 with a day to go.  If they would have just exercised some patience one of us could have won it for around $50, which would have been a monster steal of a win.  Instead some sap is going to pay much more than he should have.  I don't want to start a rant on early bidding, but it really irritates me.
